WEST PALM BEACH, FL (WFLX) - A Palm Beach County Sheriff's deputy struck a woman at Military Trail and Cresthaven Boulevard.

Update, FRI 1:20 PM: The woman struck by a deputy's car Friday morning has died.

The woman, identified as Gretchen Stetson, 37, of Greenacres, was taken to Delray Medical Center where she died from her injuries.

Previously: A Palm Beach County Sheriff's deputy struck a woman at Military Trail and Cresthaven Boulevard.

This all happened shortly before 2 O'clock Friday morning.

The woman was initially reported dead but is able to be revived -- not once, but twice.

Investigators say she was not in a crosswalk. And in fact may have been standing in Military Trail for quite a while.

They're trying to figure out who the woman is and if she may have been intoxicated at the time.

Officials said, "There could be some mental illness issues involved with this. We don't know, but the intial information that we have is that she was in the road for reasons we have yet to determine."

If you know anything call crimestoppers 1800 458 TIPS.
