Four killed: Planes collide mid-air over Everglades

Posted by Rachel Leigh email

HOLLYWOOD, FL (WFLX) - New information about a deadly mid-air collision over the Everglades. It turns out, one of the planes involved has a connection to a Stuart flight school.

Investigators will resume their search Monday morning for the bodies of four people killed when the two small planes slammed into each other.

A coast guard helicopter found the wreckage west of U.S. 27 and south of Alligator Alley early Sunday morning.

According to our partners at the Palm Beach Post, three of the men killed were licensed pilots. One believed to be an instructor for Airline Transport Professionals Corporation of Wilmington, Delaware. That school also has a location in Stuart.

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the cause of the crash.
