WEST PALM BEACH, FL (WFLX) - A meteor flew across the sky around 5 p.m. Thursday. A West Palm Beach woman was able to grab her camera in time to take a picture of the fast-moving fireball.

The meteor is called a bolide or fireball.

One of our viewers, Debbie Militello, snapped the smoke trailing off the fireball. She actually thought it was a plane crashing.

She says it lasted just a few seconds. Other people who saw it say it was very bright and just looked like something on fire as it fell from the sky.

Wade Shoffner saw the meteor. "It was burning. It was lighting up. It had a tail, almost looked like a meteor. What do you call it? A comet? It had a tail, so, it was neat."

Debbie DeAngelis, described, "I've seen shooting stars, and this was just big - big and bright."
