Cat Sanctuary Fake

BOYNTON BEACH, FL (WFLX) - It's all a lie to make money. That's what a local woman told investigators about her elaborate plot to fool generous people. is a website that tricked people to open up their wallets to help a facility that doesn't even exist.

The website looks legit. It's a site to raise money for exotic big cats being taken care of in Boynton Beach. It has pictures and a long list of employees and volunteers.

There are even special thank yous, but investigators say it's all a fake.

A local woman is now facing four felony fraud charges. Her name is Heather Southworth.

Florida Fish and Wildlife says she started the site. It claims the Boynton facility rescues big cats, gives tours and even breeds the rare cats.

In April FWC investigators headed out to the address on the site discovering the facility doesn't exist.

Donations were sent through a post office box and online through PayPal.

Right now there's no way to know just how many people donated.
