Christmas Trees Can Have A Second Life

DELRAY BEACH, FL (WFLX) --  If you're already wondering what to do with that Christmas tree, one local city has you covered.

This year's Christmas tree can become next year's tomatoes.  Many cities will gather up Christmas trees and chop them into mulch and compost them.

The city of Delray Beach is opening several Christmas tree recycling drop off locations.  Just drop your tree off at a designated dumpster at one of these locations.  Barwick Park on Lake Ida Road, Orchard View Park on Germantown Road, or Knowles Park on South Federal Highway.

Before dropping your tree off, you have to take off all the tinsel, lights and ornaments.  Waste management will also collect Christmas trees in neighborhoods that have curbside service.  Just set your tree out on your scheduled pick-up day for yard material.
