JUPITER, FL (WFLX) - Check any gym the week after New Year's and chances are you'll have to wait to use a machine.
Getting in shape is one of the most popular New Year's resolutions, but the question is how do you start?
Trainers at Xpress Fitness Club in Jupiter, tell us, to lose weight you need to combine cardio with weight training. They recommend you do low to moderate cardio five times a week and lift weights three times a week.
Trainers say the more muscle you put on, the more calories your body will burn. "Usually around 60 calories per pound of muscle you gain. That doesn't seem like a lot, but if you put six pounds of muscle on, that's 360 extra calories a day," Tom Fallone, trainer.
Trainers say to make it easier to stay motivated to exercise, try working out with a buddy or private sessions for at least a month.
