WEST PALM BEACH, FL (WFLX) - The champagne is on ice and the countdown is on to New Year's Eve 2009.
One of the biggest parties in South Florida is typically in downtown West Palm Beach which draws tens of thousands of people. This year, planners are transforming Clematis Street into a block party with food, fireworks, and fun.
The city is offering free live concerts as well as a fireworks show. Individual restaurants and bars are hosting celebratory dinners and specials. Free champagne will be handed out at midnight at O'Shea's, The Lounge, and Respectable Street.

Road closures and information:
Parking in all City Garages will be $2 with free parking offered after midnight.
The Evernia Garage will be available for downtown employees and validation customers at regular garage rates of $1 per hour and free after 10 pm.
The 500 block of Clematis Street closes to vehicles at 10 am.
The 200, 300 and 400 blocks of Clematis will close to vehicles at 8 pm (the meters will be bagged at 4:30pm).
Olive, Dixie and Quadrille between Banyan and Datura will close at 8 pm.
Flagler Drive between Banyan and Datura will close at 11:30 pm and reopen immediately after the fireworks display.
Valet on the 200 block will be rerouted to Narcissus between Banyan and North Clematis. Valet will charge $10.
