WEST PALM BEACH, FL (WFLX) - "I came here today [Tuesday] because I want my money back," said Reynolde Chery who trekked to federal court Tuesday evening hoping to find George Theodule and get some answers as to where his $96,000 worth of investments went.

"I do investment with him, and he took my money and don't give it back. Glad to be here to know exactly when he is going to give money back," said Chery.

But he and several others who came to the downtown West Palm federal building got nowhere Tuesday night. Theodule did not attend a hearing in a civil lawsuit against him.

The Haitian-born man ran two investment companies in suburban Lake Worth inviting other Haitian-American's to invest with him.

But the Securities and Exchange Commission says it was all a ruse for a massive scheme that came undone in late November after dozens of people showed up to his Lake Worth office and found the place empty and their money gone leading to an angry protest.

Antonio Joseph is out of $6,000 meant for his mother's surgery. "This is a real rip off, he promised he would double the money. I'm unlucky and never got a dime," said Joseph.

In all about 1,000 clients are out of an estimated $23 million according to the S.E.C.

The government has already frozen Theodule's assets, but his alleged victims just want to know if and when they will see their hard-earned money again.

"I will be so happy if I get some justice," said Chery.
