Man wanted for assaulting women on FAU campus

BOCA RATON (WFLX) -- Florida Atlantic University Police are looking for a man who assaulted two women on campus this afternoon, but they were both able to break away from him.

According to Chief Charles Lowe, the first incident occurred at 2:45 p.m. in a parking lot. The man grabbed a student's arm and tried to get her to help him with his vehicle. When she resisted, he put her in a bear hug, groped her and made inappropriate remarks as he tried to pull her away, but she was able to get free. She reported the incident about 3:45 p.m. About an hour later, a female staff member reported a similar incident to police, Lowe said. In the second case, a man matching the same description as the first report approached the woman outside the library. He touched her and made inappropriate remarks to her, but she was able to push him away as well.

When another woman in the area intervened, the man ran away. The assailant is described as a Hispanic male in his mid 20's.  He is approximately 5 foot 8 inches tall and weighs 180 to 200 pounds.  He has very short dark hair and is clean shaven.  He is wearing a dark color short-sleeve shirt with thin vertical and horizontal stripes, blue jeans, a dark colored ball cap, and a backpack.  He has been seen in Lot 16 and near the Library. If you see this individual, please contact FAU Police immediately at 561-297-3500, call 911or use a campus emergency telephone.
