Making the transfer from tape to DVD

AP - DVD is an ideal way to store your home movies. And transferring those images from tape to disc can be fun if you have the right equipment.

If your source is an analog tape -- V-H-S or eight millimeter -- then it's critical to have a computer with analog audio and video inputs. That way you can get your home movies into your computer, and then convert them to a digital format.

Andy Parsons of Pioneer Electronics says don't expect your home movies on D-V-D to look like a pre-recorded D-V-D movie. Your own homemade D-V-D's will only look as good as the source material.

Your best bet for getting the sharpest quality home videos is to make them with a digital camcorder.
