Polo player airlifted to Delray Medical Center

WELLINGTON, FL (WFLX) - We're receiving reports a polo player was injured during an event around 10:15 Wednesday at Polo Road in Wellington.

Update, WED 12:15 PM: The polo club said the man fell from horse onto the back of his neck and was unconscious for about five minutes. Traumahawk was called in and took the injured player to the Delray Medical Center. He was conscious when he was airlifted.

The club also says, they always have paramedics on standby because of the dangers.

Update, WED 12 PM: We're now learning, the polo player fell off his horse and was stepped on by the animal. He has been taken to Delray Medical Center via Traumahawk, but there is no word on his condition.

Previously: We're receiving reports a polo player was injured during an event. It happened Wednesday morning at Polo Road in Wellington. Traumahawk is en route.

This is the second accident involving a polo player in Wellington in less than a month. Sadly, Tracey Mactaggart died from her injuries. (Read Story)
