WEST PALM BEACH, FL (WFLX) - Investigators spent Sunday trying to figure out what caused a yacht to crash into the Southern Boulevard Bridge. Luckily, no one was hurt, but the crash made one local fisherman's day rather interesting.

"I was standing here fishing, and along came this yacht. Lucky Linde, I think, it was called," described Joseph Salomon.

With it's roof unhinged, and almost lying directly on top of the boat captain's chair, it's not hard to see that it wasn't a lucky day for the 'Lucky Linde'.

"I said to a friend of mine, I said, 'Hey, that thing is going to hit the bridge'. It's not even slowing down. I just watched it come right in, hit the bridge, and shake it up a little bit. I guess shook us up a little bit."

It was unlike anything Salomon had ever seen before in the 15 to 20 years he has fished off the Southern Boulevard Bridge which connects Palm Beach and West Palm Beach.

A yacht going head-to-head with a steal barrier threatening to close off one of the few thoroughfares leading into Palm Beach. But that turned out not to be the case. "The bridge is still here, but the yacht got all banged up. It got the worst end of the deal."

And with no one hurt, the whole ordeal, at the very least, made for an interesting afternoon. "Hey, listen that was interesting. That doesn't happen every day."

And Mr. Salomon even got to see Vice President Joe Biden's motorcade roll across the bridge before the accident, so quite the eventful day for this World War II veteran.

As for the crash, it is still under investigation, and there is still no word as to what might have led the boat captain to slam his yacht int the bridge.

Meanwhile, the Southern Boulevard Bridge is open again and working just fine.
