MARTIN COUNTY, Fla. — The Florida Highway Patrol said two people died, including a child, Monday evening in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 95 in Martin County.

The wreck occurred at 5:15 p.m. on I-95 northbound near mile marker 104.

The report says Annastasia M. Velez, 31, of Fort Pierce was driving a 2004 Chevy Trailblazer north when the SUV suffered a tire-thread separation.

The Trailblazer veered off the road and overturned.

Velez was taken to St. Mary's Medical Center in West Palm Beach but died from her injuries.

FHP said a 9-year-old Fort Pierce girl, who was a passenger in the SUV, was taken to Tradition Medical Center in Port St. Lucie, but also died.

Two girls, ages 13 and 11, both from Fort Pierce, who were also passengers in the Trailblazer, are in serious condition. The 13 year old was taken to Tradition Medical Center and the 11 year old was taken to St. Mary's Medical Center.

The name of the 9-year-old girl has not been released.

The FHP report did not state the relationships between the woman and the three children.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
