More than 900 people vaccinated after hepatitis A outbreak

MARTIN COUNTY, Fla. — Health officials in Martin County says 920 people were vaccinated for hepatitis A last week, and there are no new reported cases of the virus.

That news came as health officials presented an update on the hepatitis A situation on Wednesday at a Stuart church.

Officials also say they still don’t know how the outbreak that infected 19 people in the Stuart–Palm City area started.

"I think the bottom line is we are still investigating when the epidemiologists say they've wrapped up then they will tell us that and we will share,” says Martin County health spokeswoman Renay Rouse.

Many of the people who listened to the update say they believe the panic and worry in the county is now easing.

"I think its calming down a little bit, the health dept has done great job in getting word out,” said Rob Ranieri from the Hope House food bank in Stuart.
