Police: Student brought gun to Renaissance Charter School in West Palm Beach

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — West Palm Beach police said an underage student brought a handgun to Renaissance Charter School at Cypress on Thursday afternoon.

According to a police department spokesperson, the student was caught around 12:45 p.m. at the school, which is located at 8151 Okeechobee Blvd.

Police said the student didn't threaten anyone, no one was hurt, and the school is safe and secure.

Detectives are now speaking with students to figure out why the handgun was brought to school.
