Freight train derails in Jensen Beach, blocks road
Officials in Martin County said a Florida East Coast Railway cargo train derailed Thursday afternoon in Jensen Beach.
The train was reportedly carrying limestone, but most of the five derailed cars were empty, according to the sheriff's office.
The sheriff's office said Jensen Beach Boulevard at the roundabout near Pineapple Avenue was closed for hours.
According to FEC, the road reopened later in the evening after the derailed cars were removed.
There were no reports of injuries or hazardous material concerns.
Officials have not said what may have caused the derailment.
