WELLINGTON, FL (WFLX) - New information about the Wellington polo mogul, John Goodman, and the night of a deadly crash. A woman, who helped Goodman that night, is now writing about that experience in her online blog.
Lisa Pembleton, an equestrian trainer who came to Wellington late last year, lives next to a horse barn near the accident. She says John Goodman came to her trailer the night of the accident.
Goodman is accused of driving drunk February 12, running a stop sign, and slamming into a car driven by 23-year-old Scott Wilson. Wilson's car veered into a canal, killing him.
But after the accident, Pembleton writes in her blog that Goodman came to her camper and asked to borrow her phone. She said he was very hesitant to call 9-1-1 because he didn't want to get in trouble.
She said he referred to the accident as: "the end of the world".
Here's her entry:
Last but not least on Friday morning I was awaken by a gentleman who was walking into my camper. What would you do if a guy was in your bedroom at 1:30 in the morning?
He said as I was sitting up…"I was just in an accident and I need to use your phone…" So I got up and searching for the phone I kept the lights off so he couldn't tell I was also searching for my mace because I didn't know who he was, if he was telling the truth or? After he got off the phone he sat on my couch and asked me "What should I do now?" and I told him he should call 9-1-1. He was very hesitant as he did not want to get into trouble, but after some encouragement he called and I walked with him down the driveway to meet the officers. It happens that there was in fact a terrible accident or in his words "end of the world accident" right at the corner of my street which is one house away. You can read about it on The Palm Beach Post .org or google John Goodman accident in Wellington. If you think of it, keep it in your prayers. He is a billionaire and I am the only post accident witness. By the way…I did not get scared at all, that is God's peace. You want to know something else? I had a dream the week prior of a guy coming into my camper, saying he was in an accident and needed a phone…the difference? In my dream I found my mace and told him he needed to get out and after he left I felt really bad…so by God's grace my response was different. The only thing I regret is while I was with him for about a half hour, before the authorities came, I never prayed with him You can see other pictures on the internet, but here is one of mine from the early morning.
