Sherrod gains apology from White House, job offer

(WFLX) - After accepting apologies from the White House and Agriculture secretary Tom Vilsack, Shirley Sherrod has a new job offer to consider.

After demanding her resignation earlier this week, the Obama Administration has begged for forgiveness from the Black Agriculture Department employee. The political firestorm erupted after a conservative blogger posted an edited video clip of Sherrod telling an NAACP audience about an event more than two decades ago in which she hadn't done all should could to help a white farmer looking for a loan.

House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs says officials acted without knowing all the facts and should have investigated more. "Without a doubt, Ms. Sherrod is owed an apology. I would do so on behalf of this administration."

All this after Sherrod's full speech was released by the NAACP and as it turns out, it actually dealt with racial reconciliation.
