Crash on Florida Turnpike in Ft. Pierce September 3, 2013 at 1:40 PM EDT - Updated June 30 at 4:10 PM FORT PIERCE, FL (WFLX) - Crews expect the southbound lanes of the Turnpike near Ft. Pierce will remain closed until Tuesday afternoon. We'll continue to update you on the lanes closures. Previously: Three semis and a van crashed on the Florida Turnpike overnight, shutting down multiple lanes of traffic near Fort Pierce. Northbound lanes reopened around 7:30 a.m. near mile marker 152. Southbound lanes remain closed. A tractor-trailer and van crashed around 2:30 a.m., causing a chain-reaction wreck involving two other semis. The driver in the van was hurt and taken to a hospital. All lanes are blocked just south of mile marker 165. Officials said one of the trucks went over a wall at the location. If you're headed southbound, traffic is being diverted at exit 193, which is the Yeehaw Junction/State Route 60 exit. The fuel tank of one of the trucks, which was hauling cigarettes, caught fire.
