LAKE WORTH, FL (WFLX) - The mother of a 3-year-old girl, who was hit and killed by a truck Monday afternoon, is speaking out about the crash.

Eulalia Gaspar says she was at her home off Kirk Road when she received a phone call, alerting her that something bad had happened to her daughter, Priscilla Perez-Gaspar.

She says Priscilla was walking home from a nearby convenience store with her friend and roommate, Juana Valatazar.

Gaspar's cousin, Roberto Gaspar Tomas, translated for her. He says Gaspar told him "Juana, she made a phone call to her saying, 'Your little daughter just had an accident, and we don't know if she's gonna survive.'"

According to detectives with the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office, the two were hit by a truck driven by Steven Barnes.

Three year old Priscilla was taken to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead. Gaspar says her friend, Juana Valatazar, was also hit. Valatazar survived the crash.

Gaspar spoke about her daughter, describing what she will miss most about the little girl. "Every morning, she wakes up, and she'd hug me and give me a kiss every morning. I'm never going to forget that," an emotional Gaspar explained.

The crash is still under investigation by detectives.

At this time, Barnes has not been charged. Traffic investigators are working to determine if Barnes was impaired at the time of the crash, or if he suffered some sort of medical problem that caused him to veer off the road like he did.
