SUBURBAN WEST PALM BEACH, FL (WFLX) - A former Palm Beach Central High School and University of Maine football player is being held in connection with a fatal stabbing in Palm Beach County last Friday, according to the NBC affiliate in Bangor, Maine.

Zedric Joseph, 23, is currently being held at the Richmond County, Ga., Sheriff's Office, said the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.

One of the victims, Ricardy Chery, 23, died from his stab wounds.  Another victim, Vashti Laurore, 23, was treated and later released from St. Mary's Medical Center.

At 12:45 p.m. Friday, crews responded to the 1600 block of Quail Lake Dr.

When firefighters arrived, they found two people injured, according to a news release from Cpt. Albert Borroto with PBCFR.

Laurore was stabbed in the hand, and Chery was stabbed in the body.

Chery had traumatic injuries and was taken to St. Mary's Medical Trauma Center where he later died.  Laurore was also transported to St. Mary's, but officials said her injuries were not as serious.

The University of Maine football Web site listed Joseph as a senior running back on last fall's roster.
