PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL (WFLX) - A new housing development that would bring in 6,500 homes to the Acreage is coming under fire after residents began petitioning to stop the new housing project.
Several homeowners have started the group "No to Minto". Minto is the company that wants to build thousands of homes along a 3,800 acre piece near Seminole Pratt Whitney Road.
Residents are concerned such a large development could bring increased traffic, pollution and ruin the rural type of living they've become accustomed to. "Frankly, I find it quite disturbing and terrifying that the very way that we live is going to be compromised," said concerned resident Jean Edwards.
The developer, Minto, will meet with Palm Beach County Commissioners next month. The company has not returned our calls or e-mail for comment.
