PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL (WFLX) - There's a "warning" about our state's new "warning shot" bill. Palm Beach County State Attorney Dave Aronberg says the effectiveness of this law comes down to how the public perceives it.
Governor Rick Scott signed the bill making it legal, in some circumstances, to fire a "warning shot" if they feel threatened. "This does not give people license to start shooting indiscriminately into the air," said Aronberg.
Aronberg says anyone who fires a "warning shot" must be able to show they had reasonable fear of serious injury. The law took effect Friday.
