13 arrested in Boynton Beach undercover prostitution operation
PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. - 13 people are under arrest after a two-night undercover prostitution investigation, according to Boynton Beach police.
11 women showed up at a hotel after Boynton Beach detectives answered ads for sexual encounters on the website Backpage.com.
After they agreed to exchange sex for money the women were arrested, police say.
The department called the investigation "Operation Give Me a Call," and said its purpose was to find juveniles being prostituted. Although only adults were arrested, police say they did receive some leads about underage victims which were passed on to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
Police say one of the women arrested also gave them information about a shooting that happened Wednesday on Southeast Second Street.
Two men were also arrested and drugs were seized during the operation.
Boynton Beach police detectives, members of the South Florida Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and the FBI took part in the investigation.
