Several RVs destroyed by fire at 'La Mesa RV' in Port St. Lucie
PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. - A number of recreational vehicles were destroyed by fire at "La Mesa RV" in Port St. Lucie overnight.
Crews were called to the dealership, which is located near Interstate 95 and exit 126, around 1:20 a.m.
Port St. Lucie public information officer Frank Sabol said the flames spread to a maintenance building, causing it to collapse. About 40 firefighters battled the flames. Nearby propane tanks also hampered efforts.
Officials said it took about an hour and a half to get the fire out, but not before five or six RVs went up in flames. Others vehicles suffered melted headlights and paint from the intense heat.
There are no road closures or evacuations. Fire investigators are looking into the cause.
