Water survey finds 1 in 10 were sick during boil alert

Some water customers remain wary of West Palm Beach's tap water even though the boil water order is long gone.

A new survey of city water customers from the health department shows one in 10 got sick from contaminated water. Of those who got sick, 87 percent claim they had diarrhea and stomach pain, and more than half felt nauseous.

The more tap water customers drank, the more often they reported getting sick during the contamination period from September to early October.

Customers say the numbers are shocking, and many still refuse to drink from the tap.

The boil water notice affected 120,000 customers.
