AP - Question: if you have digital cable do you have high definition television? The answer, says John Orlando, is no.
Orlando, who's with the National Association of Broadcasters, says digital cable is not H-D quality. He says digital cable is certainly a step up from an analog picture -- but he says if you compare digital cable to High Definition you'd easily see the difference. Orlando says an H-D picture is sharper and has much better resolution.
He says cable operators aren't yet sending H-D broadcast signals through their cable systems. But Orlando says digital cable has confused a lot of people -- with the vast majority believing digital cable and High Definition are the same.
If you have a digital T-V -- you must have a digital tuner to convert the analog signal into digital.
